These Delicious Savory Beef Lumpia are so easy to make. Hands down everyone Loves Lumpia. Just don’t blink, they’re always in a blink of an eye, literally. Not to mention, everyone Loves Lumpia. Sometimes I think they are magic. However, the minute you place them on the table they disappear.

Filipinos are very creative and love cooking traditional dishes and passing along the importance of our family’s culture and tradition: And, during special occasions and holidays, we always make sure to include Pancit or spaghetti, for the noodles symbolize long life.

The Lumpia can be eaten by itself for a light snack with a little Sweet Chili Sauce, which has a sweet, garlicky flavor to it with a bit of bite to it. Although, my favorite is just apple cider vinegar with tons of minced garlic or Plum Sauce.

Delicious Savory Beef Lumpia are great anytime

These are the Best Delicious and Savory Beef are always the hit of the party and is the first to disappear in any family gathering or special occasion. And, we get plenty of requests all the time now because a lot of his co-workers and friends always ask him to make extra. Additionally, we try to make sure to always bring some Lumpia to every occasion and of course, with Sweet Chili Sauce.

Once you learn to make Beef Lumpia, you will agree, it’s too easy to make. And, you can freeze the extra Beef Lumpia in Ziploc Freezer bags for the next meal. It’s great, when you are too tired to cook, after a long day at work, a complete meal.

Lumpia Is Great Any Time

I love the multi-cultural dishes and recipes I always get to experience and taste. You know, there’s always plenty of Lumpia and Pancit. And, my favorite dessert Bibingka with a layer of Leche Flan (caramel flan) on the top. Delicious. Mochi Or Halo Halo, anyone? Great in the Summertime, especially Halo Halo, a shaved ice treat.

When I get a chance to cook my favorite recipes, it always makes me feel at home.  I grew up learning to cook with my father. He always had said, that all of us kids, had to learn how to cook- just in case we get married. And, all 7 of us, did just that while rolling our eyes when it was our turn to cook dinner.  Yes, we all had chores at a young age, besides working in our grandfather’s corn fields.

Origin Lumpia

Lumpia (egg rolls) originated in the Fujian province of China. Fujia is located in southeast China near Taiwan and Hong Kong. Fujia is also just south of the Chinese province, Zhejiang. However, Lumpia was passed on to the Philipines by Chinese settlers from Fujia in at least the 7th century.

In Indonesia, lumpia has become a favorite snack and is known as a street hawker food in the country. In the Philippines, lumpia is one of the most common dishes served gatherings and celebrations.

Delicious Savory Beef Lumpia

Directions to Wrap Lumpia:

  • Separate Lumpia wrappers slowly, they do tend to tear easily. Place a slightly damp paper towel on top of separated wrappers, so it will not dry out.
  • Scramble the egg in a shallow bowl.
  • Using a spoon place a small amount of the meat mix on a single wrapper.
  • Follow the Enveloping technique – Start with the corner of the wrapper facing you. Fold wrapper, starting with the corner facing you, closing the Lumpia one corner at a time, making sure the wrapper is nice and snug, so no oil will seep through to the filling.
  • Dab the corner flap with a little egg to seal the Lumpia.

Serve with steamed rice with a dipping sauce on the side, Enjoy!

As you can tell, I am a Foodie… Other Great fillings are:

  • A special request from one of my co-workers one time; Potatoes, chives, and cheddar cheese.
  • Oh, I just love Crab Ragoon; Imitation crab, chives, and cream cheese. If you prefer real crab that’s tastes sweet and succulent… Lump Crab is the best to use in this recipe – Costco has a 4 oz. can in their cold case in the meat department)
  • Love Salmon Dip; Smoked Salmon, cream cheese, veganaise, lemon pepper, capers, Tabasco, chopped dill, and chives.

Spinach and Feta Lumpia

During the Holidays I can never get enough of Spanikopita. I had my first taste at Costco, so good. These are one of my favorite appetizers and delicious Go-To-Snacks;

Ingredients

  • 2 pks. Spinach (if using frozen Spinach make sure it is well-drained and squeeze out all of the extra juices, first).
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 fresh garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
  • fresh ground pepper

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium-size bowl.
  • Place 2 teaspoon full of the spinach filling on to the lumpia wrapper and wrap as directed in the video above or package.

TIPS: This spinach Lumpias does freeze well. Although, you can properly store the Lumpia in the fridge for 2 to 3 evenings. Heat in a medium-heat oven until warmed (or toaster oven).  No need to thaw in advance.

Notes:

Other wrappers to choose from are pastry wrapper and brown rice wrapper.

By draining the cooked meat completely the Lumpia will not turn out soggy when cooked.

When frying the Lumpia be sure that the oil or deep fryer is hot enough before placing Lumpia in the oil. Or, It will absorb too much fat. Too hot it will burn the wrapper, and the filling will still be frozen.

To store: place in Ziploc bags, but not too tightly or it will be too hard to separate for the next meal.

To freeze: Lumpia, place in a gallon Ziploc freezer bag and place immediately in the freezer once wrapped The wrapper or Lumpia will become soggy if left out.
